Red Carpet Rewind: Celebration of the Music of the Academy Awards

It's a red carpet affair as we honor scores that were nominated or won Academy Awards®, conducted by Associate Conductor Christopher Dragon. You're sure to swoon as our very own Colorado Symphony Associate Concertmaster Claude Sim performs The Red Violin: Chaconne for Violin and Orchestra. Plus, we'll kick it up a notch with program highlights including music from The Wizard of Oz, An American in Paris, Mary Poppins, West Side Story, Oklahoma!, timeless Disney classics, and more. Devin DeSantis (who you may have seen at our recent performances of A Colorado Christmas or our Tribute to Mel Brooks) returns to perform, assuring that by the end of the evening you’ll be seeing stars!

LISTEN/HEAR are casual sessions of live performance threaded with thoughtful talk-throughs to help you understand and truly hear symphonic music. This new series of four concerts throughout the season will take you on a journey through the evolution of symphonic music from its modest beginnings to the powerhouse ensemble you see it as today!

LISTEN/HEAR 102 features the overpowering sounds of Beethoven, Wagner, and more masters of the mesmerizing Romantic period hosted by Associate Conductor Christopher Dragon and Assistant Principal Cello Austin Fisher.


Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1
with Olga Kern

Denver favorite Olga Kern, whose extraordinary talent and star power has captivated critics around the world, returns for an incomparable performance of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1. Brett Mitchell leads the Colorado Symphony through works by two Polish composers, Lutoslawski and Kilar, who could very nearly steal the stage from the Russian great.
