Join us for wine, light refreshments, and networking on Monday, April 22 at 6pm for a special ArtistConnect. In observance of Earth Day, we are focusing on the work of two artists exploring the intersection of the arts and environmental stewardship.
Stephan Crawford, founder and executive producer of the ClimateMusic Project, will recount how his collaborative communicates a sense of urgency about climate change by combining science with the emotional power of music to drive meaningful action. He’ll also share video clips of current works and provide a glimpse of what the project has under wraps.
French-American environmental artist and educator Michele Guieu will present a selection of exploratory projects she has implemented in the classroom. Then, you'll create your own “Be a Bay Hero Mini Mobile” to keep you thinking about the bay and the important role each of us needs to play to protect it.

It's your last chance to register for two upcoming classes! Don't miss this great opportunity to come to Montalvo and get creative with us.
Come move with us this coming Monday, April 15 at 6:30pm as we learn Swing Dance: From the Charleston to Lindy-Hop.
Rooted in African American culture of the early 20th century, swing dancing was inspired by the rise of jazz music, and reached its height of popularity in the 1940s. In this fun and high-energy class with instructors Margot Helm & Richard Perkins, you'll learn the basics of partnered Charleston and 6-count Lindy-Hop, and get an introduction to the history behind this beloved and all-American art form!
Get your hands dirty in the best possible way as you dive into a weekly Wheel Form Ceramics class with instructor Rachel Ashman from 6-8:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 16 - May 21.
You'll learn how to create both simple and complex ceramic forms while working on pottery wheels in our charming Creekside Studio space. Various building, trimming, glazing, and surface design techniques will be taught, and a small group size ensures individual guidance. You'll get Tuesday evenings of instruction and five Thursday evenings of additional studio time, during which you can continue to develop your clay skills.
Join us for an evening of gorgeous Island music on Thursday, April 25 at 7:30pm as famed Hawaiian singer/songwriter Amy Hānaiali'i Gilliom takes the stage in our intimate Carriage House Theatre.
Gilliom is Hawai'i's top selling female vocalist of all time. She has earned five Grammy nominations and 18 Nā Hōkū awards, and has played for sold-out crowds in worldwide -- both as a solo artist and alongside legends like Earth, Wind & Fire, Carlos Santana, Diana Krall, Joe Cocker and many more.
With classical training, powerhouse vocals, and a deep sense of honor for her ancestors, Gilliom is dazzling in live performance. If you love Hawaiian music -- or vocal music of any kind -- you won't want to miss this show.
Our annual Carriage House Concert Announcement Party is a great tradition of drinks, appetizers, and meeting fellow music lovers. It's also where we'll reveal the full line-up of our 2019-20 Carriage House Concert Series! Attendees even have the chance to purchase tickets before they officially go on sale.
The party is for Montalvo donors only, so you'll have to join now or renew your support to receive your exclusive invitation (coming next week).
