Celebrate with us on Friday, July 19 from 6-9pm at our free Art on the Grounds festival Threads: Weaving Humanity, featuring interactive art activities, live dance performances, food, and plenty of fun!
New works on view by artists Hellen Ascoli, Yasmin Jahan Nupur, Sudnya Shroff, and RoCoCo will use braiding, stitching, patching, and mending as a metaphor for weaving the threads of our diverse communities into a shared social fabric.
Performances presented through a partnership with Sangam Arts will include Calpulli Tonalehqueh, San Jose Taiko, New Ground Theatre Dance, Xpressions, Yang Yang Dance, and more. In addition, Ramekon O’Arwister will present Crochet Jam, an art-making event that will invite the public to consider the power of art in society, and Lucas Artists Fellows will engage visitors throughout the property.
Take a look at our Instagram feed for a sneak peek at one of the works we'll be celebrating: Sudnya Shroff's A Common Thread.
Our Summer Camps are now in full swing, with a diverse calendar of more than 25 different courses for youth. Each year, these camps host more than 250 students from ages 6-17 as they learn subjects from painting and performing to cooking and engineering.
We are proud of our camp program, and in order to give every member of the community the chance to participate, we always offer scholarships to underserved students and schools. These scholarships are made available through the support of donors like you.
Your generous gifts also pay for our highly qualified camp instructors, art materials, and a lot more. Won't you consider supporting us to help ensure all children have the opportunity to explore their creativity at Montalvo? Donations of any size can make a big difference.
