CLIBURN AT THE KIMBELL: MASTERS

Brentano String Quartet Haochen Zhang  Thurs., Oct. 27 and Fri., Oct. 28, 2016, 7:30 p.m.

Regularly touring around the world to popular and critical acclaim, the Quartet is synonymous with “passionate, uninhibited and spell-binding” (The Independent, London) performances. The group provided chamber music for the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2013 and will do so again in 2017.

The gold medalist of the Thirteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2009, Chinese pianist Haochen Zhang has sold out tours of China and has appeared with luminary conductors like Valery Gergiev and the late Lorin Maazel. He’s captivated audiences throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas with a “combination of enchanting, sensitive lyricism and hypnotizing forcefulness… a phenomenon encountered very rarely” (The Jerusalem Post).
