We hope our newsletter will brighten your day.
Let's look out for each other despite the distance.
How are you connecting with others during this uncertain time? If you have any online opportunities and events that would be good to share in our newsletter, let us know!
We are currently looking for pitches for great ideas that have a positive impact on the future of YEG!
Are you 18 to 40 years old? Have a great idea, initiative or business that has, or will have a positive impact on the future of the city?
Then apply to pitch at the MEÆT: The Future event!
Share your idea with engaged Edmontonians, promote your project and enjoy lunch on us.
If your pitch gets the most audience votes, you'll walk away with a portion of ticket sales plus an additional $2,500 provided by RBC!
The date for Future MEÆT is TBD but in the meantime, share your idea with us.
Hey Edmonton artists! Have original artwork you'd like to sell?
During this time of the COVID-19 outbreak, it's important more than ever to support our local economy. We are working on Timeraiser this year and looking to purchase local artwork from Edmonton artists to support our Timeraiser event.
Timeraiser gives people the opportunity to bid on artwork from local artists not with money but with volunteer hours.
Our call for nonprofit organizations that wish to promote volunteer opportunities will be shared soon!

- New Blog Posts + Relevant Old Blog Posts
- Something Interesting on the Internet
- Social Media Did You Know
We have postponed our Pecha Kucha Night 36 event at the Telus World of Science due to the announcement from the Telus World of Science that they will be closed due to the COVID-19 virus until further notice. It has also been recommended from the City of Edmonton, following the recommendation from Alberta Health Services, that all gatherings of more than 250 people be cancelled.
Our hope is to maintain the current speaker line-up as is and we will provide updates on our website and social media of a new date when we can reschedule PKN 36.
Thank you for your support of our Pecha Kucha Nights. Also thank you to our volunteers who have been working diligently on planning the event and to the speakers who have been preparing their presentations for our event. 💜
Refunds have been issued to everyone who purchased tickets to the event. If you have any questions, please email us at: Nextgen@edmonton.ca.
COVID20x20: We will get through this together
View this collection of PechaKucha presentations from around the world that offer informative insights, personal accounts, and creative responses to the COVID-19 global pandemic. Have some inspiring stories on how your community is creatively coping, or some creative thoughts for best addressing the situation?
Put together a PechaKucha presentation and tag it with #COVID20x20. PechaKucha Global will add it to this channel so we can learn from each other and see how our fellow global citizens are facing these uncertain times with PechaKucha positivity. We'll get through this together!
What young volunteers can bring to the board governance table
Many nonprofits and charities experience challenges in recruiting young volunteers. What kind of language appeals to youth? What channels can you reach them on? And what type of opportunities are they looking for?
Volunteer Alberta created a unique volunteer matching program that connected youth with nonprofit boards across the province: Youth @ the Table, taking the guess-work out of recruiting young volunteers for board governance.
SCIENCE AT HOME
Fun science you can do together from the comfort of your home.
Check out the Telus World of Science DIY Science experiments. All of them are hands-on and only require commonly used household items! Don't forget to share all those great photos of your family trying them out, using #myTWOSE.

The City Plan charts out how we will get to a future city, a city that has the benefits we enjoy today with new opportunities for the future.
The City Plan is about our spaces and places and how we move around the city. It is about our community and what we need to do together to grow, adapt and succeed.
