Trumpeter, percussionist, composer, and SFJAZZ Collective member Etienne Charles developed a strikingly original body of work combining traditional rhythms and themes from Trinidad and Haiti with a post-bop harmonic lexicon.This exclusive performance will be the Bay Area debut of his multi-part suite dedicated to the sounds and traditions of his homeland’s Carnival celebration featuring music and dancing.
