The Other Art Fair Sydney

The Other Art Fair Sydney, presented by Saatchi Art and opening on 22 March, is back for its fourth edition. It features 100 outstanding emerging artists including Angie Goto and Chelle Destefano. There is also an Auslan tour and a special ticket discount for friends of Accessible Arts. Don't miss out: learn more and book now for Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Onion Reality: See the Artwork!

The Accessible Arts team, working in collaboration with Front Up, is digitally archiving the work of the 14 artists who exhibited as part of Onion Reality, the Emerge 2017 exhibition. We’ve chosen PlaceStories as the platform, and we invite you to see an image and read the artist’s statement for Michelle Brown’s work Freak Machine.

Little Orange Invites Applicants

Campbelltown Art Centre is currently seeking expressions of interest from emerging Western Sydney artists with disability interested in becoming part of their Little Orange supported studio. ATAG: 20 March and all Welcome

Our first Accessing the Arts Group (ATAG) meeting is coming up on Tuesday 20 March and we’ll be hosted by our friends at the Australian Museum. We’ll be finding out from their team how they are delivering on their Accessibility and Inclusion Action Plan (2018-2021). This is a free professional development opportunity and we invite you to learn more and book now!

What's On?

  • The latest edition of the Deaf Society’s Deaf Herald in Auslan is out now and includes a segment from our Deaf Arts Officer Riona Tindal about the latest from Accessible Arts. She highlights The Other Art Fair Sydney as well as Auslan tours coming up at the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia.
  • The six recipients of the Accessible Arts Delineate grants from 2016/17 met us recently at the Arts Exchange. Each recipient presented about their project and its outcomes. Please keep an eye on our website as we plan to publish more about these projects which came out of organisations including Studio ARTES and Sprung!! Integrated Dance Theatre.

  • Coming up later this year is a professional development opportunity: a one-week residence for artists with disability at the Bundanon Trust. It will be open to visual artists, musicians and writers. Guidelines will be released on 18 April. If this could be for you, the Accessible Arts Perfecting Your Grant Pitch free workshop (see below) could be a great way to get started.
  • Are you wanting to perfect your grant pitch? Well, this three-hour Accessible Arts workshop could be for you. It’s coming up on Wednesday 11 April and will be held at the Arts Exchange in The Rocks, Sydney. It’s a free event facilitated by Accessible Arts Interim General Manager Michael Huxley.
