An Evening With Turner

Join us for these special evening hours of J.M.W. Turner: Watercolors from Tate. The exhibition will remain open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on January 23 and February 6. Mystic Seaport Museum is the only U.S. stop for this show! After here, it is off to Paris. Enjoy a reduced ticket price of $15 for this event. Tickets will be available at the door. Hurry, this exhibition ends on February 23.

An Artist’s Journey for Perfection

Enjoy an afternoon lecture with award-winning Maritime Gallery artist, Bill Davis. A self-taught painter whose works typically capture the serene light of sunrise or sunset on the water, Davis’s work has been influenced by the Hudson River Valley School and their Luminist successors. Bill will begin his talk with his early days, and show the progression of his paintings over the past 40 years.

A Family Affair

Shake off that cabin fever with three days of winter fun at our annual Ice Festival!

Bundle up and celebrate the great outdoors in New England, then warm up in one of our many cozy indoor spaces. There will be special programs, including games and crafts, film screenings of the 2014 movie Mr. Turner, music, a fire pit, and winter working dogs Saint Bernards and Newfoundlands – and other entertainment that both children and adults will enjoy.

"Conversations with Turner: The Watercolors"

We are nearly sold out of this book!

A companion to the Turner exhibition, this beautiful book co-published by Mystic Seaport Museum features more than 100 watercolors from the Turner Bequest at Tate, tracking the artist’s career from the 1790s through the 1840s.

Joseph Conrad Overnight Sailing Camp

This is the overnight summer camp of choice for generations of young sailors. This camp teaches your 8- to 15-year-olds not just the skills of the sea, but those of teamwork and camaraderie. Campers sail a Dyer Dhow by day and sleep aboard a historic ship by night — what better way to spend summer vacation than on the water! Our staff includes a state licensed director, US sailing-certified instructors, and experienced counselors, many of whom are past Conrad participants.
