Opera Santa Barbara is thrilled to present Il Postino (The Postman), their first opera by Mexican-American composer Daniel Catán on March 7 and 8 at the historic Lobero Theatre. A major contemporary composer, Catán is known for his sweeping, impressionistic music and bringing Spanish-language opera into the international repertory.
Based on the Oscar-winning film, Il Postino (The Postman) weaves together the rush of romance, the endurance of friendship, and the danger that lurks at the intersection of art and politics. Join us for this important company premiere and Opera Santa Barbara's first opera in Spanish.
Opera Santa Barbara continues their season at the Lobero Theatre with Romeo & Juliet in May.
