Hello Friend

Kansas City Ballet

The Academy

Hello KCBS Families,

Grace Holmes

The weather is finally changing and we are heading into another very busy time of year for our Academy. I have a few reminders – there has been quite a lot of commotion in the hallways during the transitions between classes. Our beautiful building with its open plan allows noise to bounce downstairs into our administrative office. We greatly appreciate your assistance in keeping the noise level down. We also now have a hall monitor in place on the second floor, so she can assist in any ways needed. Also please be mindful that the parking spots directly opposite our front doors are for those with handicapped parking placards only. Please do not park in those spots unless you are authorized to do so.

The Wizard of Oz opens this Friday, October 12. Congrats to all of our students who are participating and I hope that everyone will be able to go to the show. It is going to be quite a spectacle!

Nutcracker rehearsals are starting soon, October 13, so please make sure that your children eat well and rest well to stay healthy. Remember that any questions about our professional company productions should be directed to Production. For Nutcracker questions, parents should email kcbstagemanagement@gmail.com or call 816-516-0207.

We will be holding fire drills this month – keep an eye out for an email with more information. Watch Week is October 22-27. Please support your child(ren) by watching class and seeing the progress they have made this semester. One last reminder that there are no classes after 4:00 pm on Halloween, October 31. In connection with Halloween, we will be accepting donations towards costumes for the School. Students who wish to wear Halloween costumes on Monday October 29 and Tuesday October 30, can place their donation in the cauldron at the front desk. Remember that students must either remove their costumes before class or make sure that they can take class properly in their costumes!

Kansas City Youth Ballet (KCYB), our student performance company, will present its Fall Performance on November 2-4 in the Frost Theater at the Bolender Center. This is a perfect opportunity for you to show your student what they can achieve as a student with dedication and hard work.

Yours,

Grace Holmes
Kansas City Ballet School Director
