We've been saving some surprises for you as we count the days to opening night of Ballet Austin's 56th annual production of The Nutcracker presented by the Georgia B. Lucas Foundation Fund. Here's a biggie!
Former University of Texas and NFL Quarterback, the "Invincible" Vince Young, heads an all-star cast of celebrity "Mother Gingers" scheduled for Ballet Austin's opening weekend of performances, Dec. 7-9 at the Long Center.
For more than 20 years, Ballet Austin has invited notable members of the community to play the part of "Mother Ginger," the comical matriarch of a family of young Bon Bons, who steals the show in Act II, with a big skirt, big hair, and an even bigger personality.
Here's a look at the buzzworthy opening-weekend Mother Ginger line-up!
Vince Young, who led the UT Longhorns to a BCS National Championship, stars as "Mother Ginger" on Dec. 7 @ 7:30 p.m.
Chief Brian Manley, who leads the Austin Police Department, stars as "Mother Ginger" on Dec. 8 @ 2 p.m.
Kendra Scott, the Austin-based fashion and accessories designer, stars as "Mother Ginger" on Dec. 8 @ 7:30 p.m.
Tiffany Chen, co-founder of TIFF's TREATS cookie and confections company, stars as "Mother Ginger" on Dec. 9 @ 2 p.m.
Friday, Dec. 7 @ 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 8 @ 2 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 8 @ 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 9 @ 2 p.m.
