First, you'll be whisked away by the talents of the Adelaide Symphony performing in the Adelaide Town Hall, in a program featuring our very own Principal Cello - Simon Cobcroft. After the concert, take a trip to a subterranean destination, where you'll find live entertainment, drinks, eats, beats and peeps. These evenings are a chance for you to hear new music, meet new people and mingle with the young musicians of the ASO.
Also, we can confirm that cello soloist Simon Cobcroft will be present at the afterparty!
#REMASTERED 3 will feature the talents of local ADL six-piece gypsy-jazz swing outfit The Various Nefarious. We claim no responsibility for control over your feet, limbs and body parts. We'll let their beats do the talking.
All eats, drinks, entertainment and good times are provided for in the cost of your ticket.
You just show up and enjoy the ride.

Elgar expressed that his Cello Concerto was reflective of "a mans attitude to life" - it was his musical enunciation of a dwindling British Empire. It is a mourning for what once was, and a rebuff against the inevitable passing of time, of the fading of youth and "greatness". Either side of this concert centrepiece we have Debussy and Prokofiev.
Alas! Let us escape reality and bathe in the waters of the imagination - cue Debussy's Prelude á l'aprés-midi d'un faune - perhaps one of the most potently whistful, dreamlike works ever written. Translated as "Prelude to the afternoon of a Faun", this work is famous for its musically poetic conjuring of the poem of the same name by French poet Stéphane Mallarmé. It traces the aftenoon exploits of a faun whom has just awoken from an afternoon nap and his encounter with several nymphs.
Prokofiev's Symphony No 5 finishes the evening - Prokofiev himself proclaiming it as " a symphony of the greatness of the human spirit, a song of praise of free and happy mankind ." Composed during World War II, the thrilling finale of this work is often considered emblematic of victory and heroic efforts - when you hear it for yourself, perhaps consider what else it might represent?
* Each ticket includes an A-reserve seat for the concert (among the best seats in the house) and afterparty. BASS booking fees will apply.
