Jazz Vocalist Kat Edmonson
Performs January 19

Kat Edmonson

The beautiful vocal stylings of singer/songwriter Kat Edmonson will grace our intimate Carriage House Theatre on Saturday, January 19 at 8pm.

Edmonson has played on stages across the United States, Europe, and Japan, appeared in major motion pictures, performed on radio and television, and released three “intimate and intoxicating” albums to date. Her lyrical warble transports audiences to the jazz halls and cabarets of the 1920s and ‘30s, while her whip-smart lyrics and ironic sensibility are thoroughly of the 21st century.

Looking for a gift idea for a jazz lover in your life -- or for the love of your life? Look no further, because this is it!

Tickets are still available, so hurry and grab your seats in what is sure to be a memorable night at Montalvo.

Get Your Hands Dirty with Ceramics

Winter Hand Built Ceramics Classes

Join us in our Creekside Studios each Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm from January 8 to February 12 for Hand Built Ceramics classes!

In this class, you will get hands-on instruction creating pinch, coil, and slab pots. You'll learn about their construction and get creative with the medium of hand-built ceramic forms. Surface detail techniques, darts, templates, glazing methods, and more will also be demonstrated to expand your repertoire of skills. Students already versed in wheel throwing will also learn how to incorporate these hand-building techniques into wheel-thrown pieces.

This workshop is both beginner-friendly and will help intermediate-level ceramicists improve their skills. Sign up with a friend or loved one so that you can get creative together, or give a class to an artist in your life as a unique holiday gift!

Impactful Gift Ideas

Gift Ideas for Montalvo this Holiday

The winter months inspire the generous spirit in all of us, and as a donor-supported non-profit organization, we are grateful for every gift we receive. But in addition to cash donations, we also accept in-kind contributions. These can be just as valuable, and are also fully tax-deductible. Not sure what gifts we need? Our wish list will help you get started!

Looking for an especially meaningful gift idea for a loved one? You can also name a tree, bench, seat, plaque, or brick on our property with donations of certain amounts. Contact Taylor Welty at twelty@montalvoarts.org for more information on naming opportunities.

Munro is Magical in the Rain

Bruce Munro at Montalvo: Stories in Light

With the winter weather arriving to the Bay Area, you might find yourself wondering whether you should visit our spectacular Bruce Munro at Montalvo: Stories in Light exhibition in the rain.

The simple answer is: YES!

Seeing these light-based works in the rain is a magical experience. The mist, puddles, and falling water make for beautiful imagery, perfect for photographing and sharing. Plus, on rainy nights, our cozy bar & gift shop make for a nice respite, offering hot beverages and a break from the drizzle. You can also buy a Montalvo umbrella if you find you need one!

The exhibition remains open whether it's raining or clear, so as long as you come prepared, you're sure to have a memorable evening not matter the conditions. We hope to see you this winter season!
