Bruce Munro: Stories in Light
Receiving Rave Reviews

Bruce Munro at Montalvo: Stories in Light

This past Sunday marked the opening of our spectacular new exhibition Bruce Munro at Montalvo: Stories in Light, and already the reviews have been incredible.

This week's Mercury News "Eye" section featured a cover story describing the Chronicles of Narnia-inspired spectacle as "transcendent – and not just for Narnia fans." Another article from last week also ran above the fold on the front page of the entire newspaper.

KQED also highlighted the exhibition in this article. This piece, which describes the works on the grounds as "magical," also aired on a recent episode of the radio program The California Report.

This week's Metro newspaper featured a wonderful summary of the experience from a visitor's perspective, describing each work as it might be encountered on a self-guided tour.

Last week, the San Francisco Chronicle's Datebook published a feature on the exhibit. And if you fly Southwest Air, you might have spotted a suggestion to visit Montalvo in their in-flight magazine's roundup of winter travel ideas.

The message from all of this buzz is clear: Don't miss this incredible experience!

The Gift of Light

Diwali: Festival of Lights

The celebration of Diwali is approaching. One of many holidays in the winter season, it is observed by millions of people the world over. This Diwali, why not give your loved ones the gift of beauty, wonder, and light at Montalvo?

Honor a friend or family member by dedicating a tree, personalizing a brick, or naming a bench on Montalvo’s historic grounds. For personalized dedications and requests, contact Donor Operations Manager Taylor Welty at twelty@montalvoarts.org or 408-961-5809.

We wish you and yours a Diwali full of light, love, and joy!

If you want to learn more about Diwali, join us on Tuesday, November 13 at 7pm for a special lecture on the topic with Dr. Niranjani Patel and members of the Chinmaya Mission South San Jose study group. The lecture will give historic, philosophical, and regional perspectives on Diwali. You'll discover meaningful connections and stories around light within the context of Bruce Munro at Montalvo: Stories in Light  (NOTE: this lecture requires a separate exhibition ticket).
