This summer, our Executive Director Angela McConnell is celebrating her 10th anniversary at Montalvo. During her tenure, we have transformed our institution into an invaluable space for artists and the community.
"It takes a village," Angela says. "And the Montalvo village is truly special: Our artists inspire me with their innovative ideas. My colleagues astonish me with their their passionate commitment to this place and our programs. And our diverse community, people representing all walks of life, from parents to hikers to educators, from Title 1 schoolchildren to Pulitzer Prize winning artists come here to experience our programs and engage in the creative process."
In honor of Angela's milestone, our Board of Directors commissioned a new artwork to be placed on the empty pedestal of our Four Seasons statue series (the fourth statue has long been missing). In addition, we have created a new beautification fund which will improve and repair many of the aging elements of the property so that Montalvo can continue to be a beautiful respite for our next generation of visitors.
If you would like to make a gift in Angela's honor, contact Emma Moon. You can also donate any amount through the link below to give continued support to the mission that Angela and all of Montalvo's patrons have worked so hard to enact over the past decade.
Nothing says summer more than being outside under the stars watching a great movie. Join us this year on our Great Lawn as we launch our new Sunset Cinema series with three classic films:
First, bring the family over the rainbow and head off to see The Wizard of Oz on Friday, July 12. Next, get dressed up for a sing-along party with Grease on Friday, July 26. Finally, hunker down for the incomparable thriller Jaws on Friday, August 2.
Bring a blanket or low chair to set up on the lawn, and be sure to visit the concessions stand for popcorn, candy, and ice cream -- plus beer, wine, and soda.
Admission is free, but please RSVP. Limited on-site VIP parking is available, or take a free shuttle from West Valley College starting at 7pm. All films begin at 8:30pm.
On Sunday, July 14 at 6pm, get ready to see William Shakespeare's celebrated comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream like you've never seen it before: outdoors on Montalvo's grounds performed by an all-female cast!
Presented by Silicon Valley Shakespeare, this performance on our beautiful Garden Terrace will captivate your entire family with the tale of youthful love, magic, and a mischievous sprite named Puck. Admission is free, and limited on-site parking is available at $15 per car.
