Mingle At the Museum

Math mingle

Featured Exhibition:
MathAlive!
This exhibition brings to life the real math behind some of the activities children like. Visitors young and old can ride snowboards in 4-D and design and play their own video games.  See video of the MathAlive! exhibition.

What is a fractal dance?
A fractal is a shape made up of shapes identical to the first shape. Each of those shapes is made up of smaller identical shapes, and so on, and so on. Learn more>>

Dear ,

We invite you to join us for a Mingle at the Museum event to explore math like never before. Take part in nearly 40 interactive experiences at this grown-ups-only introduction to the new International Gallery exhibition MathAlive!

Experience math in the applied worlds of design, engineering, technology, and science:

  • Test geometry skills on a rock wall climb
  • Explore sound waves as you create a music mix
  • Crack espionage codes
  • Jump into a fractal dance party

Ellen Dorn, director of special exhibitions, and Betsy Burstein Robinson and Seth Waite, exhibition project managers, will be on hand to provide behind-the-scenes insights.

Enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and a specialty cocktail (Math-tini, anyone?). One drink ticket and light refreshments are included with admission, and there will be a cash bar. Must be at least 21 with a valid photo ID to attend.
