The wait is almost over – Elektra storms the Jubilee stage in just a few days! Featuring an incredible cast of 16 singers, an innovative post-apocalyptic production design, and Strauss's thundering score brought to life by 70+ Edmonton Symphony Orchestra musicians and their new Chief Conductor Alexander Prior, this psychological thriller is a live theatre experience you absolutely cannot miss. Elizabeth Blancke-Biggs is Elektra!

We are thrilled to present powerhouse dramatic soprano Elizabeth Blancke-Biggs in the title role of our upcoming Elektra. Her illustrious career has taken her to opera houses around the world, including the Met Opera and the Norwegian National Opera in award-winning productions. 

Elizabeth previously portrayed Elektra at Teatro Comunale di Bologna in 2015, earning rave reviews. For her Edmonton Opera debut, Elizabeth brings flawless vocal prowess, stellar acting instincts, and world stage experience for the performance of a lifetime.

Richard Strauss's towering masterpiece Elektra is any director's dream to work on – few other operas offer so much dramatic potential for innovative staging. 

In our upcoming production, Michael Cavanagh takes the opera to a whole new level of brilliance, heightening the audience's experience of catharsis and awe. With a new post-apocalyptic concept and design, Michael and the creative team reimagine Elektra like never before.

While she often plays terrifying characters on stage, off stage soprano Elizabeth Blancke-Biggs is a generous artist who loves mentoring young talent wherever she travels.

On Wednesday, March 15, she and conductor Michael Recchiuti will host a free masterclass that is open to the public. This is an excellent opportunity to see the talented soprano share her insights on vocal technique with emerging singers. Please RSVP on Eventbrite.
