Bring the whole family to explore Camille Saint-Saëns’ classic “Carnival of the Animals” in a way you never have before, featuring dancers from Wellspring Cori Terry & Dancers and the Wellspring Dance Academy, the KSO Brass Quintet, multimedia and poetry! Following the performance stick around for activities and a brass instrument petting zoo!

Classics On Tap performance will feature KSO musicians up close and personal at Bell’s Eccentric Café while you enjoy dozens of delicious Bell's brews on tap! Program to include works by Brahms, Walker, and Coleridge-Taylor. Must be 21 or older to attend performance.

The true story of the great composer's arrival and his famous trip in New York for the grand opening of Carnegie Hall in 1891 and his famous trip to Niagara Falls. A surprise meeting with a young American girl reveals much about Tchaikovsky - his life in Russia, his love of music and his fears of conducting. Join us for a touching story in which old world influences and new world experiences collide.

The Kalamazoo Kids In Tune Middle School Orchestra will be the featured guest for First Saturday at Kalamazoo Public Library on February 3. The program begins with a performance at 2:00pm, followed by an instrument petting zoo led by KKIT students. The instruments are provided by Meyer Music. KKIT is an afterschool orchestra program, offered at Woods Lake Elementary and Milwood Magnet School. The program is a partnership of KSO, Communities in Schools of Kalamazoo, and Kalamazoo Public Schools.
On the same afternoon, Orchestra Rouh will be featured alongside students of the Suzuki Academy of Kalamazoo at Friendship Village in the Kiva. The concert begins at 2pm. Orchestra Rouh is an orchestra program serving children of refugee and immigrant families recently resettled in Kalamazoo. The program offers multi-lingual instruction in English, Arabic and Kurdish. Students can select violin or cello lessons, and study both Western and Arabic music. Orchestra Rouh is a collaboration of KSO and Suzuki Academy of Kalamazoo.
Both events are family friendly and perfect for families with young children.
