After winning audiences’ hearts with Cinderella last season, director Robert Herriot is back to steer our jazzy new production of HMS Pinafore! Herriot will bring his knack for comic timing, energetic staging, and thrilling spectacle into this never-seen-before revival of Gilbert and Sullivan’s worldwide favourite operetta.
In this interview, Herriot gives you a teaser of what to expect from Pinafore and introduces some of our talented cast!
Last week, Edmonton Opera’s resident costume designer Deanna Finnman unveiled her stunning designs for HMS Pinafore. Set in one of the most glamorous decades for fashion, this 1920s Pinafore will include flapper dresses, fancy accessories, and stylish Navy uniforms.
Enjoy your first look at the costumes that will be flaunted by passengers and crew on board the HMS Pinafore!
The overture for HMS Pinafore is one of the most widely known — have a listen and get in the nautical spirit before you hop aboard! For our production, the overture will also include jazz arrangements by New York-based composer and orchestrator Ed Windels.
On Sunday, January 21, join us for a delectable brunch at the Royal Glenora Club followed by performances from the cast of HMS Pinafore including soprano Vanessa Oude-Reimerink (last seen in Carmen) and baritone Geoffrey Sirett (Elektra). Limited tickets remain!
