50 Days of Opera starts Friday

The Edmonton Opera is celebrating 50 years with opera every day for 50 days, starting this Friday! Join us at noon at City Hall for a free performance by the Edmonton Opera Chorus, the Enterprise Quartet and the Johann Strauss Ball Dancers.

Edmonton Opera is part of Alberta Culture Days

The Edmonton Opera will be part of Alberta Culture Days, with four events throughout the weekend, Sept. 27 to 29! 

Youth workshops will be held at the Jubilee Auditorium Sept. 27. Opera performances include one at City Hall on Sept. 27 (noon), a performance in the Winspear Centre lobby on Sept. 28 (2:30 p.m.) and a performance in St. Albert at the Enjoy Centre on Sept. 29 (2 p.m.). 

This weekend provides a great opportunity for arts and culture organizations across Alberta to celebrate with activities and performances. 

Salute to 50

Experience opera's most powerful music with the Edmonton Opera Chorus in concert, Nov. 23, 7:30 p.m. at McDougall United Church. 

This concert is an opportunity to highlight the local talent that plays such a vital role in our opera productions. Tickets are $25 for subscribers and can be purchased by calling the box office at 780.429.1000; tickets are $30 for the general public and can be purchased online or by calling the box office.

Subscriptions and Salome

Edmonton Opera's 50th anniversary season begins with Richard's Strauss Salome,  with a new concept by Canadian designer Yannik Larivée and Belgian director Waut Koeken.

Subscriptions for the 2013/14 season are still on sale, please call the box office at 780.429.1000 or purchase online. If you have already purchased your subscription, please consider passing this email along to a friend or family member who may be interested in opera. Subscriptions start at $96 for seats on the main floor. 

This season includes the psychological thriller Salome, the sparkling comedy Die Fledermaus, and the romantic tearjerker Madama Butterfly.  Consider this just the overture.
