NextGen helped deliver a Holiday Hamper last weekend as part of JCI's annual Holiday Hamper program.

On Delivery Day, elves meet with volunteers and receive turkeys, roasting pans, fresh produce, and their families' addresses. The Elves then hand deliver the hampers to their assigned families. The magic really happens when Elves meet their families and hearts are filled with the joy of giving and community.

Thanks to our Committee member Adam Medaglia for helping deliver the food hamper to a family in need this holiday season.

Do you have a $50 million dollar idea?

City invites Edmontonians to help bring the Smart City Challenge prize money home.

How would you improve quality of life through innovation? The City of Edmonton wants to know.

“We’re looking for the one-in-a-million idea that will help us win this Challenge,” says Mayor Don Iveson. “I know Edmontonians care deeply about their city and are generous in spirit, with a desire to collaborate and make a difference for their fellow citizens.”

Answering the call to Infrastructure Canada’s Smart Cities Challenge, the City of Edmonton is partnering with other orders of government, local organizations, post-secondary educational institutions, businesses and Edmontonians to brainstorm ideas that use technology and information to improve livability and opportunities for the City and its people.

“We know that the more perspectives we get, the stronger our proposal will be,” says Wendy Gnenz, Branch Manager of Open City and Technology. “ Working together, we can create and nurture a resilient, livable and workable community that rises to the challenges we face today — I can’t wait to see the unique ideas Edmontonians will submit.”

This Smart Cities Challenge encourages communities and their most creative minds to adopt new and innovative approaches to city-building.
