The Summer Series is devoted exclusively to the work of Hubbard Street’s internationally acclaimed Resident Choreographer Alejandro Cerrudo, whose distinctive works are performed all over the world. Including his latest, Still in Motion, fourteen of these have premiered exclusively at Hubbard Street. Along with his keen senses of humor and surprise, Cerrudo is known for richly nuanced and precise musicality. Join us at the Harris for a program featuring audience favorites Extremely Close and Little mortal jump, and the World Premiere of Cerrudo’s newest creation for Hubbard Street: Still in Motion.

With an innovative, minimalist set design by
Michael Korsch, Still in Motion offers its viewers
a mesmerizing journey, through both intimate moments and stage-filling ensemble scenes. Go inside the studio at Hubbard Street for a sneak peek at Cerrudo’s newest creation.

Extremely Close was Cerrudo’s second original work for Hubbard Street, developed in part in 2007 with the College of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Enjoyed by audiences worldwide as part of numerous touring programs, Extremely Close has also been restaged for Compañía Nacional de Danza in Cerrudo’s native Spain, as well as by ballet companies in Cincinnati, Milwaukee and Tulsa.

Cerrudo’s tenth creation for Hubbard Street’s main company, Little mortal jump premiered in 2012, takes a cinematic approach to stagecraft, introducing its viewers to a mysterious place where dancers have dreamlike encounters. Their contents unknown, dark objects hide and reveal these characters, and remain once the dancers disappear. Little mortal jump
premieres at Pacific Northwest Ballet in 2016.

Less is more in the next creation
from Alejandro Cerrudo.

“A testament to the
power of simplicity.”

“Cerrudo’s latest is
a lesson in restraint.”
