Discover a new and unique part of Edmonton this weekend. Participate in one of over a dozen walks as part of the 12th annual Jane’s Walk, an initiative that supports the growth of strong, resourceful and connected communities through the simple act of walking.
Free walks are scheduled throughout the weekend until May 10, with celebrations kicking off Friday at City Hall.
Jane’s Walk was founded in 2006 by friends of the urban thinker, Jane Jacobs. Jane’s Walk has since become a worldwide, free, volunteer-led event that allows residents to share unique stories. Jane’s Walks in Edmonton will discuss themes including history, art and architecture such as Exploring the Funicular, Spruce Avenue House Histories, YEG Garden Suites and Rossdale and the River Crossing.
Edmonton’s Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Strategy is being developed in consultation with the scientific community and stakeholders.

Drop in, be informed and contribute to the vision for a climate resilient Edmonton.

Auction Attendant: Auction Attendance volunteers will be present in the party space and will be assigned to a section of auction sheets to keep an eye on them as the lots come to a close and ensure they are removed on time. In celebration of International Museum Day 2018, the Friends of Royal Alberta Museum Society (FRAMS) presents Connections Through Collections: The Future of Museums.
Good museums tell good stories. And telling good stories requires that museums consider carefully how human experience can, and should, be reflected in their services, and the audiences those same services will, and must, reach. This places message and interpretive method at the center, alongside inclusiveness, consultation, and audience feedback.
When: Thursday, May 17 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Where: Betty Andrews Recital Hall, Allard Hall, MacEwan University, 11110 104 Avenue
Tickets: $15
Dr. Dean Oliver, Director of Research at the Canadian Museum of History in Ottawa, will address the creation of compelling, respectful narratives in a museum setting, and how museums can create and maintain focus on their publics. The traditional roles museums have played – collecting things and displaying them for educative purposes – are merely the starting points for modern museology.
Good ideas can change the world. And we make the best ideas together.
