HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I— The museum continues the Valentine’s Day
spirit at its monthly after-hours art party with ARTafterDARK: I <3 U,
presented by the Domestic Violence Action Center.
With roughly
2,000 people expected to attend the event, guests have a good chance of finding
someone who gets their heart racing, and then losing them in the crowd. Those smitten
attendees can post a public message that will be projected on a screen for all
to see in an activity called “Missed Projections.” To get their romantic declaration
projected, guests need to access the HoMA mobile app, navigate to the “Social”
tab, then post a tweet with the hashtag #ARTafterDARK, or write directly in the
app. The guest who posts the best art-pun pick-up line will win a HoMA swag bag
in addition to winning the affections of a certain someone. To enter the
contest, guests must identify themselves at the projection station.
Home
is where the heart is. Visitors can mark their heart’s true home on the
“Worldwide Web of Love” map, and see where fellow ARTafterDARKers have left
their hearts around the world. Then they can watch a high-flying performance by
Aerials by Samadhi and hear Thi Van Nguyen pluck a few guitar and heartstrings.
DJ Tittahbyte spins beats in the rhythm of the heart.
