The Story of La Boheme LA Opera Presents The Story of La Bohème by Jane Rosenberg

One great myth about opera is that it’s not for children. If you’ve attended any of our Education and Community Programs Department performances, you know that’s not the case. But what about mainstage performances like, for example, La Bohème?

One of Puccini’s most beloved operas, La Bohème is a great introduction to the art form for all newcomers, including older children and teens! To illustrate that point, LA Opera has joined forces with children’s writer and illustrator Jane Rosenberg on a mini-site designed especially to acquaint our young patrons with The Story of La Bohème.

Ms. Rosenberg’s book, Sing Me A Story, (from which The Story of La Bohème was taken) was written to show the experience of a live performance as fully as possible in storybook form, and introduce young audiences to Opera’s favorite stories and prepare them for a life-long love of opera.

To prepare your youngster for Puccini’s dazzling La Bohème, take our storybook and play them some musical highlights. You’ll be surprised at the richness and fun your child will experience when attending La Bohème with you.

We offer a discount for children ages 9-17! Bring your children to the May 23 or May 31 performances and save 50%. For more information on La Bohème or to purchase tickets, visit LAOpera.com.
